Read-a-Thon:  Jonathan Miller (all ages)
Wednesday, April 4 at 9 – 11 a.m.
Join us for an author visit from local author Jonathan Miller and hear all about the adventures of “Sammy the Wonder Dachshund.”  The presentation will be followed by readings for young children provided by local middle and high school students.

PLAY:  Riddles and Rhymes (all ages)
Wednesday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m.
This storytime is a celebration of Reading is Funny Day and National Poetry Month.

Preschool Adventure Zone (ages 3 to 6 years)
Friday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m.
Scientific adventures on a Preschool level! Children will explore science and math concepts through stories and hands-on adventures.

PLAY with Dad:  Rock and Read (all ages)
Saturday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
Join us for a musical story time and enjoy some books that “rock.” 

Children’s Movie:  Hop (all ages)
Saturday, April 7 at 3 p.m.
E.B., the Easter Bunny’s teenage son, heads to Hollywood, determined to become a drummer in a rock ‘n’ roll band. In LA, he’s taken in by Fred after the out-of-work slacker hits E.B. with his car.  Rated PG; 95 minutes.

Poetry Graffiti for Kids (all ages)

Express your inner poet at the library!  Share a line or picture on our Poetry Graffiti display in celebration of National Library Week. 

PLAY:  Eggs Are Amazing! (all ages)
Wednesday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m.
We’ve hatched a fun storytime for you.  Listen to great stories and create a tissue paper egg to take home. 

Preschool Book Explorers (ages 3 to 6 years)
Friday, April 13 at 10:30 a.m.
Each month the Book Explorers read a book and do activities to go along with the book. This is a fun way to build those early literacy skills!

Saturday Movie Matinee: Hugo (all ages)
Saturday, April 14 at 3 p.m.
An orphaned boy secretly lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station and looks after the clocks.  He gets caught up in a mysterious adventure when he attempts to repair a mechanical man.  Rated PG; 127 minutes.  Sponsor: The UPS Store, 3575 Maybank Highway, John’s Island.

Mumble is well known for his dancing and now he and his wife, Gloria, have a son named Erik.  Erik is feeling the pressure of trying to find his own talents among the Emperor Penguin world.  But new dangers are threatening the penguin nation, and it’s going to take everyone working and dancing together to save them.  Rated PG; 100 minutes.

Join us @ the library for a fun day at the movies. On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppet’s former stomping grounds. Tween Program:  DIY Makeup Party! (ages 9 to 12)
Wednesday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m.
Come make your own makeup and toiletries; including sugar scrubs and fizzy bath bombs to take home!

Come make some creative crafts in celebration of Asian-Pacific Heritage Month.

Wednesday, May 23 from 9 – 11 a.m. 
Join us for an author presentation from Nadine Johnson.  Ms. Johnson is a local author and designer known for her “Last Night I Dreamt” series for children.  The presentation will be followed by readings for young children provided by local middle and high school students.

PLAY: There Was a Little Turtle (all ages)
Wednesday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m.
Celebrate turtles with stories and songs, and make a turtle puppet to take home.

PLAY:  Puppet Playtime (all ages)
Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m.
Come to the children’s area and get your hands on some of our cool puppets.

PLAY: It’s National Bike Month! (all ages)

Join us for stories, songs and a craft in honor of this great invention.
