AARP Free Income Tax Preparation (adults)
Saturdays, April 7 and 14 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Free income tax preparation and electronic filing will be offered by AARP volunteers through April 14. A current picture ID and Social Security card are required, along with the Social Security cards of any dependents. First come, first served with the last person accepted at 1 p.m. Assistance in Spanish will be available.

Sea Islands Book Club (adults)

Join us and discuss The Camel Club by David Baldacci. Existing at the fringes of Washington, D.C., the Camel Club consists of four eccentric members. Led by a mysterious man known as “Oliver Stone,” they study conspiracy theories, current events, and the machinations of government to discover the “truth” behind the country’s actions. Their efforts bear little fruit-until the group witnesses a shocking murder…and become embroiled in an astounding, far-reaching conspiracy. Round Table Discussions with Councilwoman Johnson (adults)
Wednesday, April 25 at 12:30 p.m.
Councilwoman Anna Johnson of Charleston County District 8 wants to discuss your concerns and issues. Speakers this month will be from the Charleston County Economic Development Department and the State of South Carolina’s ReadySC workforce training program. These speakers will discuss the new jobs that have been created in Charleston County by new and expanding companies, and the job skills that new employees are expected to have in order to be hired.

Hope’s Healing Boutique provides cancer awareness and prevention information. Clothes, household articles and specialty items are available free to its participants.
Fired Up For The Future (adults)
Thursday, April 26 from 6 – 7 p.m.
Join the Royal family as they share their encouraging story of Christian, their 19 year old son with Down syndrome, and how they developed a promising future for him through making pottery. Any parent, teacher or caregiver of a special needs child would greatly benefit from this program. Christian’s pottery will be on display at the library for the month of April.

Symbolist Robert Langdon finds himself on an adventure following clues all around the Vatican joined by murdered physicist Leonardo Vetra’s daughter Vittoria. Join us for an author presentation from Nadine Johnson. Ms. Johnson is a local author and designer known for her “Last Night I Dreamt” series for children. The presentation will be followed by readings for young children provided by local middle and high school students.

This unique film tells the story of the Holocaust through the eyes of eight-year-old Bruno whose father is a Nazi commander at Auschwitz. Bruno strikes up a friendship with a Jewish boy, Shmuel, through the fence surrounding the camp where everyone wears striped “pyjamas.” Their friendship will have startling and unexpected consequences for both of them.
